British triathlete Alex Yee is set to tackle his first-ever marathon at the London Marathon on April 27, 2025. Yee, who recently won Olympic gold in triathlon at the Paris 2024 Games, has announced that he will dedicate himself fully to marathon training in the coming months.

The London Marathon, one of the world’s premier races, will serve as the stage for Yee’s highly anticipated debut over the 42.195-kilometer distance. Known as one of the fastest runners in the world of triathlon, Yee’s transition to the marathon is being watched closely by fans and experts alike.

Yee’s athletic resume is nothing short of impressive. He earned a silver medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and boasts remarkable track and road running performances. Back in 2018, at just 20 years old, he clocked 27:51.94 in the 10,000 meters, placing fifth at the European Cup.

His personal bests also include 7:45.81 for 3000 meters, 13:26 for a 5K road race, and 13:29.18 for 5000 meters on the track, all achieved before his full-time focus on triathlon began in 2021.

“Running a marathon is something I’ve always dreamed of, and there’s no better place to do it than London,” Yee shared in an interview with the BBC. He added, “I’ll be focusing solely on marathon training in the coming months to see what I can achieve over 26.2 miles.”

This marks an exciting new chapter for the young athlete, as he shifts his attention from multi-sport events to the demands of long-distance running. With his exceptional speed and proven endurance, Yee’s marathon debut is poised to be one of the standout stories of the London Marathon.
